In his previous capacity, Pankaj Murarka held the position of Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Axis Mutual Fund, overseeing a portfolio exceeding $2 billion in Indian Equities. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of Axis Mutual Fund in 2009 and over time, he was instrumental in transforming it into a prominent AMC in India, renowned for its exceptional investment performance. Responsible for the performance of all equity funds under Axis AMC, Pankaj’s leadership led to Axis AMC being recognized as the “Best Equity Fund house of the year” by Outlook Money for 2014.
Furthermore, his efforts were acknowledged with the “Best Fund Manager – Runner up Award” for Axis Midcap Fund by Outlook Money in 2014. Notably, the fund achieved a remarkable CAGR return of 24% (2011-2015), outperforming the benchmark significantly. Pankaj’s tenure saw the fund attaining top decile positions for 2012 and 2013, and clinching the No. 1 spot in India for all funds in 2014 based on a three-year performance. Throughout his career, Pankaj Murarka has also contributed to renowned organizations such as Merrill Lynch, where he held the position of India Portfolio Manager for the Strategic Investment Group. His tenure at Rare Enterprises, Motilal Oswal Securities, and UTI Mutual Fund underscores his commitment to delivering superior risk-adjusted returns consistently over two decades in public markets. Importantly, Pankaj has played a significant role in executing diverse PIPE and Private Equity investments, showcasing his versatility in investment strategies.
